File Conversion
File Conversion is a step where each customer file format is analyzed to determine which fields to carry when converting the file format to the Distribution Services standard file format. This step is also called preflighting.

List Conversion
List Conversion is a step where each customer file format is converted to the RR Donnelley List Services standard file format.

CASS Certification
CASS (Coding Accuracy Support System) Certification is a step where the mail list is processed through software to add the Zip + 4 to the 5-digit Zip code and assign a carrier route code. If requested, the primary mailing address can be standardized during this process.

Postal Presort
Postal Presort is a step where the mail list is processed through PAVE (Presort Accuracy Verification and Evaluation) software to produce reports and organize the addresses in optimal United States Postal Service sequence.

Address Output
Address Output is a step where the presorted mail list is converted into mailing labels or inkjet data for application to the publication.

• For domestic addresses, six lines of address information can be carried on the mailing label or inkjet data.
• For foreign addresses, eight lines of address information can be carried on the mailing label or inkjet data.

Merge/Purge
Merge/Purge is a step where one or more mailing lists are processed through software to remove the duplicate records. Standard Merge/Purges offered:

• Resident Matching – Mixed Business and Consumer, One per Household/Firm (Company)
• Resident Matching – Consumer, One per Household, No Firms (Company)
• Consumer Matching – One per Family (by Last Name)
• Individual Matching – Mixed Consumer and Business, with Firms (Company)
• Individual Matching – Consumer Only, No Firms (Company)

Custom Merge/Purge criteria can be established if necessary. Please contact your service representative for more information.

List Splits
List Splits can be created from the mailing list so that two or more mailing versions are created from one mailing list.

Extract and Print Canadian/Foreign records
Extract and Print Canadian/Foreign records is a step where the Canadian and Foreign records are identified and separated from the domestic portion of the mailing list.

NCOA Processing
NCOA (National Change of Address) processing requires 1 additional business day. NCOA is a process used to update mailing addresses for recipients who have moved within the past 3 years.

Special Programming
Special Programming can be performed on any mailing list to handle customer specific requests.
